You know...This is great advice, Heather, as always! You know how I love for there to be conflict and high stakes everywhere. And one of my pet peeves in books is definitely when the entire conflict could be solved in a short conversation between two characters who otherwise jabber on about everything with each other. ("Yes, you might be my best friend and I've told you about every boy I've liked since the fifth grade, but I saw you *looking* at my boyfriend, and I know you love him now and you're going to steal him from me, and, oh, WHY would you do such a thing? WHY???" Meanwhile the best friend glanced over at the boyfriend for a half-second longer than planned because it looked like a booger was coming out of his nose, and she was wondering if she should mention something, but it just turned out to be a shadow, and thank goodness because that might have been awkward and, hey, maybe he has a good-looking friend who's looking for a girlfriend? Should I ask? Because it would be fun to double-date with my very best friend in the world for whom I would do ANYTHING because she's awesome.")Caryn Caldwellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15338655819410392107noreply@blogger.com
